When an ice-hauling ship is destroyed by a stealthy attacker when answering a distress call, the surviving XO broadcasts an accusation that sets off a war between Earth and Mars. But when the attack appears to be vaguely correlated with the case of a missing trade empire heiress, larger plans are revealed.
