  The entities encountered by the crew of Endurance are future humans who have become energy beings, returning to their own past to shape their future.

  The success of the expedition causes humanity to survive into the distance future; the mission only succeeds because far-future humans effect the events that allow for the expedition.

• O'Neill Cylinder

  After humans recover data from the singularity of a black hole, they migrate off Earth into O'Neill Cylinders.
